Sony Ericsson W8 Android phone to launch soon

Sony Ericsson Walkman portfolio has expanded its smartphone range with the launch of Sony Ericsson W8. The smartphone runs on Google Android 2.1 Eclair.

Xperia X8 similar in looks, the Sony Ericsson W8 sport 3-inch capacitive touch display HVGA. This is a 600 MHz ARM processor in 11-Adreno 200 GPU, the Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset, combined with only 168MB of memory.

W8 is a music player focused on Android, the TrackID music recognition and PlayNow technologies. The smart phone’s camera is a 3.2 megapixel camera with geo-tagging. Built is 128 MB of storage and is expandable to 16 GB with a microSD card. The W8 comes in three colors – blue, metallic red orange, and an icon.

3G support, the phone offers 23 hours and 40 minutes W8 new music listening. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. W8 also provides integration of Twitter and Facebook in the Timescape user interface.

There is no word on pricing of the smartphone, it is expected to hit stores in India, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malayasia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam from 2 quarter of 2011.
