BlackBerry handheld maker Research in Motion (RIM) today announced the launch of its new dual screen “Style”, the smartphone for CDMA users in India, sold on the open market.
BlackBerry phones launched earlier CDMA customers have been combined with the services of Tata Teleservices and Reliance Communications.
The new smartphone has a compact flip design with two high-resolution display and QWERTY keyboard. The phone has a 2-inch (diagonal), the external display for quick viewing of notifications and communications, 2.7-inch (diagonal) built-in display.
“The CDMA segment represents a large share of total mobile subscribers in India and we are delighted to continue our commitment to Indian consumers with the introduction of this powerful and stylish BlackBerry smartphone,” RIM India Director Frenny Bawa said in a statement.
It also comes with multimedia features including a 5 megapixel camera with flash. The handset supports video recording, which offers built-in GPS location-based applications and geo-coding, Wi-Fi connectivity and expandable memory slot up to 32 GB of additional storage.
Style BlackBerry smartphone will offer optical touchpad for navigation. It will support applications like YouTube, BBM, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
The phone is now available on the market and the distribution of smartphone will be managed by India Bright point, RIM national retail partner for CDMA-enabled BlackBerry smartphones, the statement said.
